After the event - Nail your success

The Jam is finished, you are totally smashed, and only want to rest. However, it is not entirely done yet: there still are a few things to do, to nail the event success.
  1. Communicate, to transcend the event
  2. Unite your community, but let it rest

Communicate, to transcend the event

After the Jam, you have at least one main message to give, which might look like:

“It was a great event, the teams have done a great job.
Test their games!
 And join us next year...”

It is a good idea to make sure that all games pages are accessible and look good enough, then make a post-jam communication, which is coherent with your communication plan before the Jam.

That communication, will help making your participants more proud, strengthen the relationship with your partner, and make it easier to mobilize those who couldn’t join this year but might come next year. That extra boost of energy is a real investment for next edition.

Unite your community, but let it rest

You have met many new people during this edition, whether they were new participants or in the public. Whatever community management you have (newsletter, twitter, facebook, discord…), it is a good idea one week or two after the Jam to keep in touch with them.

In our community for example, we organise monthly workshops. So it is great moment to congratulate everyone again, invite them to a workshop, or ask them if they there is any topic they would like to discuss.

However remember: “Respect your participant” and “The game jam is a bubble in time”: it is perfectly normal if only a small portion of your participants reponds or shows up next event. But is does not mean that they forgot you.

For example, at present time we have between 10 and 15 active members. But we have discovered that the number of people who follow and speak of our events is closer to 150.
